Air India has ordered 290 Boeing commercial jets to expand its services.

The contract signing took place at the ongoing Paris Air Show 2023.

Boeing said the order amount represents a historic purchase of Boeing's market-leading single-aisle and wide-body jets.

The order consists of 190 737 MAX, 20 787 Dreamliner and 10 777X jets with an option for 50 737 MAX and 20 787 Dreamliner.

This is Boeing's largest order from a country in South Asia, and cements a 90-year partnership with Air India.
A comprehensive suite of inflight services will also enable Air India to expand its operations in a sustainable manner in the rapidly growing South Asian aviation market.

Over the next 20 years, Boeing continued, South Asia is expected to double its in-service fleet from 700 to 2,300 aircraft to meet passenger demand.

The company announced in February that Air India had selected this Boeing model to pursue a sustainable growth strategy.

As a leading global aerospace company, Boeing develops, manufactures and services commercial aircraft, defense products and space systems for customers in more than 150 countries.

As a major US exporter, the company leverages the talent of its global supplier base to advance economic opportunity, sustainability and societal impact, Boeing wrote.
